Job Description

The role involves providing excellent customer service to maximize sales and profit, supporting the Store Manager in all aspects of the business including sales, security, cash, and stock control, and managing the store in the Store Manager's absence following company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Assist and support the Manager in staff training, motivation, and development
  • Ensure staff adherence to company policies and procedures
  • Operate the store within the allocated budget
  • Implement promotional activities
  • Handle administration tasks such as investigating cash/stock discrepancies, payroll, and marketing
  • Maintain excellent customer service and knowledge of store products
  • Identify selling opportunities and act on them
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety standards inside and outside the store
  • Ensure premises are safe and secure at all times
  • Follow company regulations on cash handling and administration
  • Comply with health and safety and licensing legislation
  • Perform other relevant duties as required
Qualifications
  • Maths and English GCSE (Grade C or above) or equivalent
  • OR 1 year supervisory experience in retail or customer service

Additional qualifications include NVQ Level 2 & 3 in Customer Service or Retail Operations, WSET Level 1 Wine Certificate (Level 2 preferred), and a commitment to obtaining WSET Level 2.

  • At least 6 months retail experience
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in a team
  • Leadership qualities and ability to lead in the absence of the Store Manager
  • Ability to perform under pressure and take on extra responsibilities
  • Experience with EPOS systems, cash handling, stock control
  • Effective communication skills and customer focus
  • Ability to actively sell and maintain a positive attitude
  • Professional appearance and valid driving license with access to a car
  • Experience in off-licence environment and supervisory roles
