Job summary

RSSB’s Risk and Safety Intelligence team seeks a Senior Safety Risk Analyst to lead data‑driven risk models and decision‑support tools for GB rail safety. Hybrid working from our London area office, with a closing date of 4 October 2026, offers opportunities to influence industry safety via analytics and collaboration.

You will mentor analysts, develop risk narratives, and work with stakeholders to deliver actionable safety intelligence and guidance.

Qualifications

• Degree in mathematics, science, engineering or related field.
• Advanced analytical techniques applied to real‑world problems.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, Power BI, Excel.
• Ability to understand complex information and apply analytical thinking.
• Experience applying statistical methods and building mathematical models with AI tools.
• Strong data visualization and storytelling skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor changes in railway‑wide risk using data from RSSB and other sources.
• Identify actionable insights from incident reports and feedback.
• Create dashboards and reports for stakeholders and industry groups.
• Develop and update sections of the Safety Risk Model.
• Review data quality and support data improvement.
• Lead risk assessments and cost‑benefit analyses, including standards changes.
• Engage with industry members to understand health and safety problems.
• Collaborate with RSSB teams to maintain products and services.
• Mentor analysts and ensure quality of analysis.
