Placements24 is seeking a Senior Safety Officer to oversee health and safety operations for a major energy sector client in Randburg, Gauteng. You will develop and enforce safety protocols, lead risk assessments, and drive incident investigations across multiple sites.

The role requires SACPCMP registration, 5–7 years of relevant experience, and a strong track record in reducing incidents and promoting a safety-first culture.

Qualifications

• National Diploma/Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
• Registered as a Safety Professional with SACPCMP or equivalent.
• 5–7 years of experience as a Safety Officer/Manager in energy/industrial
• In-depth knowledge of South African OHS Act and regulations.
• Experience in risk assessments, incident investigations, and HAZOP studies.
• Strong training and facilitation skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the health and safety management system.
• Conduct site inspections and safety audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses; determine root causes and action plans.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees and contractors.

Our client, a key facilitator in the South African Energy sector, is looking for a dedicated and experienced Senior Safety Officer to oversee health and safety operations in Randburg, Gauteng . This crucial role involves developing, implementing, and enforcing comprehensive safety protocols and procedures across various operational sites to ensure a safe working environment for all employees and contractors. The Senior Safety Officer will be responsible for risk assessments, incident investigations, safety training, and ensuring compliance with all relevant national and international health and safety legislation. Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Excellent knowledge of safety management systems and implementation.
• Strong training and facilitation skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to Randburg, Gauteng .
