Senior System Safety Engineer

Bristol - Hybrid/Flexible Working*

Permanent : £60k-£70K + Benefits

This is a consultancy business though so travel to client sites may be required depending on the contract and scope of work.

We are working on behalf of an independent SME Business that specializes in Systems and Safety Engineering that is recruiting for a Senior System Safety Engineer right now.

The ideal Senior System Safety Engineer will have at least 10 years of experience in the Submarine-Maritime and Defence sectors and be comfortable in a customer-facing role. They will be carrying out a wide range of Safety Engineering activities across a variety of Defence projects.

A small dynamic and bureaucracy-free consultancy with an established and constantly growing team with plenty of ambition to keep going. They currently support a range of defence industry clients on some of the most exciting and technically challenging projects today.

Essential skills:

  1. Safety Case Reports and Safety Management Plans.
  2. Experience in carrying out Hazard Identification and Hazard Analysis.
  3. Safety assessment and management experience working on UK Submarine programs.
  4. Nuclear Safety Design Justification (NSDJ) and Design Safety Justification Plans (DSJP).
  5. Hazard Log Management including eCassandra.
  6. Experience working with the ASEMS process.
  7. Ability to work effectively across multiple projects at once.

Qualifications:

  1. Ideally be degree qualified in an Engineering discipline.
  2. Candidates will ideally be a Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent experience.
  3. Candidates MUST be UK and eligible for UK Security Clearance.

Desirable skills:

  1. Hazardous Materials Dossier production or maintenance.
  2. Experience in carrying out Fault Tree Analysis (e.g. Isograph Reliability Workbench).
  3. Experience with Failure Modes, Effects (and Criticality) Analysis.
  4. Experience of IEC 61508.
  5. Familiarity with ARP4754A, or DO178C/DO254 or ARP4761.
  6. Understanding of safety assurance of software and/or complex hardware.
  7. Understanding / experience working with DEF STAN 07-85.
