Senior Safety Advisor

Role Responsibilities:
  • Report to the National Safety Manager, providing leadership, coaching, and support to implement safety initiatives at operational levels.
  • Model and facilitate a safety leadership style that emphasizes health and safety priorities.
  • Offer consultancy and support to managers and supervisors on safety and health matters.
  • Contribute to developing safety capabilities in line management, promoting visible felt leadership, and ensuring safety systems are effectively understood and implemented.
  • Maintain knowledge of safety legislation, trends, and new initiatives affecting the business.
  • Monitor and report on risk assessments, investigations, audits, and corrective actions.
  • Advise and develop managers and supervisors to enhance their safety knowledge and capabilities.
  • Participate in internal audits across Australian sites annually.
  • Support incident investigations and hazard reviews with line management.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Diploma of WHS or equivalent experience, with willingness to obtain relevant qualifications.
  • Experience in a safety leadership role within high-risk environments (preferred but not essential).
  • Knowledge of behavioural safety and Critical Risk Management programs.
  • Current understanding of OH&S legislation and practices.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and influencing skills, with effective communication at all levels.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to Rockhampton and Townsville to coach site leaders.
