Denbighshire County Council is seeking an experienced Safeguarding and Independent Reviewing Officer to join its Safeguarding and Reviewing Unit in Denbighshire. You will independently review care arrangements, chair statutory meetings and safeguard procedures to ensure children’s voices are heard and rights protected.

You will work with social workers, managers and CAFCASS to improve outcomes, deliver high-quality safeguarding practice and ensure timely, accurate reporting and recommendations.

Qualifications

• Social Work degree or CQSW required.
• Current registration with Social Care Wales.
• Five years’ experience in statutory children’s services.
• Experience chairing complex multi-agency meetings and reviewing care plans.
• Strong knowledge of child protection legislation and safeguarding procedures.

Responsabilités

• Chair Child Protection Conferences and statutory Looked After Children (LAC) Reviews.
• Monitor and scrutinise child protection plans, care plans and placement arrangements.
• Identify safeguarding concerns to protect children from harm.
• Collaborate with social workers, police, health professionals, education services and CAFCASS.
• Ensure children and families are meaningfully involved in decisions.
• Undertake case file audits, quality assurance reviews and performance monitoring.
• Prepare accurate statutory meeting minutes, professional reports and recommendations.
• Provide advice, guidance and training on safeguarding legislation and best practice.
• Handle complaints and facilitate multi-agency meetings.
• Contribute to safeguarding policies and service improvement initiatives.
