Job summary

Community Care Live is seeking an Independent safeguarding lead to oversee regulatory requirements and chair child protection meetings. The role involves coordinating inter-agency responses for children in need of protection and those looked after, while driving consistent, standards-aligned practice.

You will support safeguarding service development, ensure children's voices are heard, and contribute to risk management. Expect hybrid working with regular office days and visits.

Responsibilities

• Meet regulatory requirements by maintaining Independent Review Officer (IRO) posts.
• Monitor, assess and scrutinise performance of reviews and refer to relevant bodies.
• Lead officer coordinating an inter-agency response to children in need of protection and looked-after children.
• Plan and develop a consistent response to ensure effective practice in line with standards.
• Act as independent chair at Children Protection meetings including conferences, reviews and Part 4 meetings.
• Champion delivery of safeguarding services and drive continuous improvement.
• Contribute to safeguarding services development within the authority.
• Ensure the voice of the child/young person is heard and provide access to independent advocacy.
• Contribute to operational risk management.
• 2 days in the office, plus visits.
