Job summary

Richmond Square Consulting Ltd is seeking a Senior Rust Developer in Cheltenham with hybrid working options. You’ll design and implement high‑performance Rust software for secure, networked systems used in national defence contexts.

You will work across cryptography, TLS/mTLS, distributed messaging and architecture decisions, contributing to secure, resilient services. A clear path for technical growth and impactful projects awaits.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial Rust experience in systems programming.
• Experience with secure software engineering and cryptography.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop high-performance software using Rust.
• Build distributed and networked systems.
• Work with Zenoh / Eclipse Zenoh for pub/sub and peer-to-peer comms.
• Develop secure communications (TLS 1.2/1.3, mTLS, PKI, X.509).
• Manage certificate lifecycle, trust chains and key management.
• Apply cryptographic principles and key exchange.
• Maintain secure coding standards, automated testing and code review.
• Provide technical guidance across engineering teams.
