Job summary

The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a Band 6 Occupational Therapist for a rotational post across the inpatient OT service. You will lead advanced assessment and treatment for acute, complex, or chronic cases, supervise junior staff and coordinate care with medical and surgical teams.

The role includes developing the OT service, ensuring timely discharges, and working with community teams on referrals. Rotation lasts nine months and requires HCPC registration and a degree in OT.

Qualifications

• Lead advanced OT assessment and treatment of patients with acute, complex and/or chronic presentations.
• Provide functional assessment and individualised treatment plans to reduce the impact of disability and ill health.
• Work as an autonomous practitioner within the MDT, delivering person-centred OT assessment and intervention.
• Lead planning, coordination, delivery and evaluation of the inpatient OT service across many wards daily.
• Work alongside the medical and surgical teams to deliver OT input.
• Deputise for the team lead Occupational Therapist where necessary.
• Lead the clinical development of the OT service within the speciality.
• Provide day-to-day management of junior staff, including Band 5 Occupational Therapists and assistants.
• Work with community teams on onward referrals for patients discharged home, to facilitate safe and timely discharge.
