Job summary

A healthcare provider in the UK is looking for a Senior Assistant Technical Officer to join their Pharmacy Team. Overview

Senior Assistant Technical Officer role in the Pharmacy Team. Band 3 Dispensing Assistant setting within Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. This is a full-time post requiring weekend and Bank Holiday rota work. Closing date is indicative and may close without notice when sufficient applications are received.

Responsibilities
  • 4 months rotation in each of Dispensary Services and Distribution/Stores. Work with section heads to aid the safe, efficient operation of each section, including audits and quality improvement projects. This is a supervisory role with training and mentoring of Apprentice Technical Officers.
  • Accurate dispensing of prescriptions, including interaction with patients at the pharmacy hatch and with healthcare professionals.
  • Pharmacy audits and training & supervision of apprentices.
  • Carry out daily stock checks in the hospital"s out-of-hours drugs room using the Pharmacy robotic cabinet.
  • Assist in sorting and checking all returned pharmaceuticals prior to recycling or disposal.
  • Ward top up and supply of medicines to wards and clinical areas.
  • Processing of ward/department stock requests in accordance with GDP.
  • Processing of community orders to offsite clinics.
  • Receipt of Pharmacy orders.
  • General housekeeping e.g. filing, replenishing sundries, loading the Pharmacy robot.
