Job summary

AtkinsRéalis Nuclear is hiring a Senior Robotics Engineer to shape, develop and deploy robotic and perception systems for autonomous operations in complex engineering environments. You will work across mobile robotics, ROS2, autonomous navigation, computer vision, sensor integration and edge deployment to deliver safe, reliable solutions with real-world impact.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with mobile robotics or autonomous systems and ROS2 on Linux.
• Experience with autonomous navigation: localisation, mapping, path planning, mission execution, safe navigation.
• Proficient in Python and/or C++; familiar with PyTorch, OpenCV or Open3D.
• Develop computer vision and perception pipelines including 3D perception and scene reconstruction.
• Understand integration of software, sensors, middleware, networks and hardware.
• Familiar with Git, containerisation, automated testing and CI/CD.
• Strong collaboration and communication to work across teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and integrate mobile robotic systems with ROS2-based software and sensors (cameras, LiDAR, edge devices).
• Shape autonomous navigation across localisation, mapping, path planning, and mission execution.
• Ensure safe robotic operation: obstacle detection, collision avoidance, safe rerouting and operator controls.
• Develop perception pipelines from image processing to 3D perception and spatial reasoning.
• Integrate multimodal data for navigation, inspection and mapping tasks.
• Deploy solutions with containerisation and edge computing; secure communications between robots and edge devices.
• Lead testing and continuous improvement; contribute to automated testing, CI/CD and robust practices.
• Collaborate with field trials and client deployments; share knowledge and provide reviews.
