Westlakes Recruit are currently recruiting for a Risk Lead to be engaged on a permanent basis, located in London (2 days per week).

Job description

Supporting and deputising for functional Project Controls Risk Leads within the Project Management Office (PMO), while leading risk management within a capital delivery programme.

Position Deputy to Head of Risk / Senior Risk Manager.

• Support the Risk Functional Lead in developing, implementing, and maintaining Integrated Project Controls (Risk) processes.
• Assist with tasks directed by the Risk Functional Lead and deputise at key project meetings, such as Executive Risk Review meetings and weekly Functional Leads/Programme Controls Managers meetings.
• Help establish, implement, and maintain Project Controls arrangements, systems, tools, and work instructions for use on the project, ensuring proper flow-down of risk requirements.
• Support planning and coordination of risk activities such as EAC updates, ERR preparation, and Integrated-QRA development.
• Assist Risk Functional Controls Leads with progress reporting, including monthly risk dashboards, forecast to complete, variance analysis, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Ensure effective lines of defence assurance processes are implemented for the delivery programme.
• Promote the client as an exemplar in risk management within the construction industry through knowledge sharing, networking, and sector presentations.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

Essential

• Strong leadership, motivational, delegation, team management, and collaboration skills. Experience delegating for Risk Functional Lead and leading small teams (~5 people).
• Excellent engagement skills; capable of engaging teams of varying size and seniority across the delivery lifecycle and supply chain.
• Ability to extract relevant insights from risk, project controls, and delivery processes, and communicate effectively at all levels.
• Well-developed facilitation skills; capable of independently facilitating complex workshops.
• Strong technical skills; experience delivering large/complex QRAs (Cost, Schedule, Integrated) and enterprise risk management.
• Capability to support a broad range of project controls, project delivery, and business support processes (e.g., Finance).
• Robust mitigation skills supported by strong project and programme management experience.
• Understanding of breadth of project and construction processes, risk exposure drivers, and mitigation solutions.

Desirable

• Project management and broader project controls experience is highly desirable.
