The Energy Risk Consultant’s key mission is to execute the risk consulting strategy for the upstream energy team, focusing on:

1. Providing value-added support to the risk carrier through risk knowledge, risk selection, and loss reduction to enhance the profitability of insured business.
2. Delivering risk consulting services to clients as part of our payer-to-partner strategy, including developing a stream of earnings from these services.

As an Energy Risk Consultant, you will embody these values and be responsible for delivering outstanding risk consulting services to underwriters and clients.

What will your essential responsibilities include?

• Providing risk reviews specific to Oil and Gas, drilling, and exploration for underwriting through third-party information review, client and broker meetings, and claims reviews.
• Supporting the broad energy transition portfolio of AXA XL, including carbon capture and new technologies, in addition to upstream energy.
• Meeting with underwriters, brokers, and clients to discuss risk consulting solutions that help improve risk profiles and reduce carbon emissions.
• Visiting client sites to evaluate risks and reporting findings back to underwriting and clients; travel is required.
• Assisting the underwriting team in enhancing risk knowledge, selecting profitable clients, and reducing losses.
• Ensuring compliance with technical rules and guidelines, working closely with regional and country managers.
• Sharing knowledge and collaborating with colleagues interested in oil & gas and energy transition technologies.
• Working with the claims team to better understand industry losses, leveraging industry expertise.

Reporting to the UK Head of Risk Consulting.

We’re looking for someone with these skills and abilities:

• MEng in Petroleum, Mechanical, or Chemical/Process Engineering.

Having experience in oil and gas exploration and production, including drilling, development, and offshore renewables, or in risk consulting roles. Experience with Hydrogen, Carbon Capture & Storage, geothermal energy, or similar technologies is a plus.

• Interest in energy transition and emerging technologies.

Forward-thinking, agile, with problem-solving skills in risk management.

• Ability to work autonomously, curiosity, motivation, strong relationship skills, and teamwork orientation.
• Fluent in English; additional languages are advantageous.
