Job summary

Honeywell Aerospace in Edinburgh is seeking an Advanced Systems Engineer to design, implement, and manage complex RF platforms for space communications. You will lead as part of cross-functional teams under the Engineering Manager, working on-site in Edinburgh to ensure high-quality, reliable, and high-performance RF systems.

The role emphasizes architecture, verification, and lab testing of SDR-based solutions, aligning with aerospace standards and project milestones.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years of industrial experience in RF systems engineering.
• Strong understanding of RF system analysis including link budget, linearity, intermodulation, EVM, transmitter performance.
• Experience with MIL-STD, ECSS and related standards.
• Experience in requirements capture, decomposition and traceability as well as verification and validation.

Responsibilities

• Define and develop RF system and subsystem architectures for aerospace, space and defence applications.
• Translate requirements into verifiable RF subsystem requirements.
• Own products to drive technical decisions during design phases and ensure milestones are met.
• Collaborate with RF, hardware, firmware, mechanical and systems engineers to integrate components effectively.
• Define RF verification and validation strategies, test requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Support RF testing and troubleshooting in the lab and analyse RF performance results.
• Lead technical reviews including requirements, design, test readiness and qualification reviews.
