While working alongside the Digital Delivery Team, in a Senior capacity and adhering to the ISO 19650 standard, the Senior Revit/CAD designer will specialize in leading all aspects of building science and technology to design and construction projects. Recognized for their specialist skills, they will work within a managed design process, developing technical knowledge and expertise to provide innovative solutions, with a primary focus on the delivery stage. Additionally, they will acknowledge the significance of post-construction aspects of the project.
- Lead and review the needs of clients and users, and agree on the project brief.
- Recognize the significance of the design stage and how it underpins the construction project.
- Lead evaluation and advising upon environmental and regulatory legal requirements affecting the project and obtaining initial approvals.
- Produce feasibility studies with the design team.
- Assess survey requirements and produce surveys.
- Contribute to project briefs and design programmes.
- Liaise with and produce documentation for statutory approval authorities.
- Prepare and present design proposals using Revit/CAD techniques and traditional methods.
- Work within a team to produce the detailed design process and coordinate detailed design information.
- Develop the project design, researching problems and producing, developing, and advising upon innovative solutions.
- Produce, analyze, and advise upon specifications, materials selections, and detailed design solutions in relation to performance and production criteria.
- Liaise with and produce documentation for statutory approval authorities.
- Produce, manage, control, and integrate design and production information.
- Ensure continual compliance with design, statutory, and professional requirements.
- Program schedules and undertake stage inspections with other members of the design team.
- Gather feedback from and debrief clients and users.
- Appraise building performance in use and produce, develop, and maintain management information systems.
- Evaluate refurbishment, repair, reuse, recycling, and deconstruction of buildings.
- Lead and assist the design team in providing professional guidance and decision-making to clients, users, and design/construction teams.
- Undertake structured Continuing Professional Development.
- Prepare and compile CAD/Revit files according to surveyor requirements, including plans, sections, details, and associated information, following company standards and relevant regulations.
- Develop individual skills within the Group BIM/CAD software, including 3D visualizations as required.
- File all BIM/CAD/Revit related information per company manuals.
- Issue drawings as requested by surveyors, Building Information Managers, Document Control Managers, or Project Managers.
- Work independently within a multidisciplinary environment, managing variable workloads.
- Plan workload and ensure timely delivery of information as per project parameters.
- Maintain and develop CAD/Revit libraries of standard information, including blocks, families, and details.
- Update and maintain quality control and CAD/BIM standards.
- Participate in CAD/Revit user group meetings to address issues and share problem-solving tools.
- Train, mentor, and develop less experienced staff.
- Responsible for electrical design QA/QC processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in drafting, technology, engineering, or related field with 8+ years of relevant experience OR
- HND in related field with 9+ years of relevant experience OR
- HNC in related field with 10+ years of relevant experience
- Expert in Revit and AutoCAD, Office365 (Excel, Word, etc.)
- Intermediate expertise in MicroStation, BIM360, Autodesk Construction Cloud (Revit Cloud)
- Ability to learn and utilize new design software effectively
- Expert in 2D and 3D applications for engineering drawings
- Deep knowledge of design, calculations, and systems
- Proficient in discipline-specific design software and collaborative work with multi-disciplinary teams
- Excellent communication skills (written & verbal)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
