Job summary

YourRecruit Ltd in the United Kingdom is seeking a capable supervisor for a children and young people’s residential home. The role involves leading shifts, safeguarding, and delivering high-quality, person-centred care aligned with individual care plans.

You will supervise Residential Support Workers, contribute to inductions and supervisions, and promote positive behaviour support while maintaining accurate records and collaborating with families and professionals.

Qualifications

  • Relevant Level 3 qualification in Children and Young People's Services (or equivalent).
  • Experience working with children and young people, including those with emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Experience managing behaviours that may challenge.
  • Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to lead shifts, prioritise workloads and support colleagues.
  • Good written and IT skills.
  • Willingness to undertake on-call duties where required.
  • Minimum of 12 months' experience in a children's residential setting.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring staff.
  • Flexible approach to working shifts, including evenings, weekends and sleep-ins.

Responsibilities

  • Lead shifts and support the day-to-day running of the home in line with organisational policies and Children's Homes Regulations.
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people, ensuring their needs remain at the centre of all decisions.
  • Provide high-quality, person-centred care and support in accordance with individual care plans.
  • Supervise, mentor and support Residential Support Workers, contributing to inductions, supervisions and ongoing development.
  • Promote positive behaviour support and role model professional practice.
  • Contribute to care planning, risk assessments, key working and reviews to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people.
  • Build effective relationships with families, social workers, education providers and other professionals.
  • Ensure accurate record keeping, reporting and completion of required documentation and audits.
  • Support medication management, health and safety compliance and the maintenance of a safe, clean and welcoming home environment.
  • Assist the Registered Manager and provide leadership in the absence of the Deputy Manager, as required.
  • Participate in training, supervision, team meetings and on-call duties where applicable.
  • Carry out all duties in accordance with safeguarding requirements, relevant legislation and organisational policies.
