Contract:

Full Time, permanent

Starting Salary:

Base salary of £30,223.16 with the potential to earn up to £31,903.16 with sleep in shifts

Salary after probation:

Base salary of £31,555.60 with the potential to earn up to £33,235.60 with sleep in shifts

Specific Hours:

Approx 40 hours per week - shift pattern

Apple Orchard has five homes in Surrey and West Sussex, offering a homely environment for young males aged 12-18 years. We aim to support their development and help them move on from traumatic pasts through positive reinforcement and nurturing care.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Ensure the care and welfare of each child, supporting their development and potential.
2. Plan and prepare activities to meet young people's needs.
3. Maintain compliance with legislation, policies, and standards, including Ofsted guidelines.
4. Support and lead Residential Support Workers, ensuring policy adherence.
5. Observe, assess, and record young people's progress and achievements.
6. Work with local authorities to ensure outstanding care.
7. Establish positive relationships with parents/carers.
8. Assist with domestic tasks, including meals, cleaning, and shopping.
9. Collaborate with the team to fulfill the home's philosophy and report concerns.
10. Maintain clear, legible records for young people's files.

Essential Skills:

1. Experience working with teenage boys or challenging behavior preferred.
2. Driving license and access to a vehicle are required.
3. Qualification in Residential Childcare, Families Practitioner Diploma, or equivalent, or willingness to obtain.
4. Willingness to engage young people in activities and support their independence.
5. Flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, and shifts with alternate weekends off.
6. Ability to challenge unacceptable behavior and set firm boundaries.
7. Teamwork and effective communication skills.
