Job summary

CareTech seeks a Team Leader/Senior Children's Support Worker to guide a team of support staff in a residential setting. You will help young people with daily routines, school prep, and meaningful activities while ensuring a safe, supportive home environment.

You will supervise staff, document care plans, and collaborate with the home management team. Training will be provided; driving is required for service coverage.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising staff in children's residential care.
• Level 3/4 qualification in Children's Residential/Workforce.
• Manual UK driving licence.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to cover shifts including weekends.

Responsibilities

• Support young people with daily routines and school readiness.
• Supervise and mentor a team of support workers.
• Provide timely updates to home management.
• Record care notes in electronic system daily.
• Plan activities and promote individuality.
• Build relationships and provide emotional support.
• Assist with light housekeeping to create a homely environment.
• Lead day trips and creative activities.
• Produce reports on care plans for managers.
• Ensure high levels of care and safety.

Role Description

Team Leader/ Senior Children's Support Worker

What You'll Do

As a senior support worker you will support young people with their daily routines; Getting them ready for school, prepping for meal times and planning activities.

• Supervise and mentor a team of support workers
• Ensure our children receive the highest level of support
• Support home management team with timely updates
• An average of 8 overnight sleep-ins per month
• Promote individuality NOT a \"one size fits all\" approach
• Monitoring of care plans and producing reports for the managers
• Create a warm, homely environment by helping with light housekeeping
• Build strong, meaningful relationships and provide emotional support
• Plan and join fun activities like day trips, popcorn & movie nights or creative projects and activities

New staff must be comfortable using an electronic care recording system on a daily basis to document, monitor, and update children and young people's records accurately. Training will be provided but all staff are expected to confidently use digital systems as part of their day-to-day role.

Who Are You

• You'll have experience of supervising staff in a similar role within children's residential
• Level 3/4 qualification in Children's Residential/Children's Workforce
• Manual UK driving licence is essential
• Experience of supporting team members
• Excellent communication skills both verbally and written
• Ability to cover shifts flexibly, including weekends on a rota
