Job summary

Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council is seeking a Senior Residential Child Care Practitioner to lead the day-to-day care of children and young people and assist the manager with planning and service delivery.

The role requires QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or NVQ Level III, and Welsh language ability is desirable. Evening, weekend and sleep-in duties may be required.

Qualifications

• QCF Diploma Level 3 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or NVQ Level III Awards in Care.
• Ability to speak Welsh is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Supervise staff and be a lead member of the staff team.
• On call duties and to deputise for the Registered Manager in their absence.
• Deal with contentious and complex matters and support day-to-day care.
• Evening and weekend work, and sleep-in duties as required.
