Mary Hare Grammar School For The Deaf is seeking a dedicated Senior Childcare Staff member to join their outstanding residential team. This term-time role requires overseeing the care of young people, engaging with them to foster their emotional growth, and working collaboratively with other staff members. Candidates should possess relevant childcare qualifications and experience, and will benefit from a supportive work environment that promotes professional development.
Term Time Role: 41 hours per week for37 term-time weeks
Sleeping In Allowance:£40.76 per sleep-in
Holidays:14 weeks of School Holidays per year

We are looking for dedicated Senior Childcare Staff to work in our residential houses with our amazing young people, term time only, 8-hour shifts.
About Us:
Mary Hare educates 180 profoundly deaf children at its residential school in Berkshire, and we pride ourselves on our pupils’ achievements at GCSE, A Level as well as B Tech and Vocational Courses. We offer the opportunity to teach highly motivated children, in small classes, where you can make a real difference at this national centre of excellence for deaf education. No knowledge of sign language is required, as we follow an auditory/oral philosophy.
The school offers a holistic approach to care, involving communication with all professionals working within both the senior and primary schools, including teachers, classroom assistants, audiologists, nurses, speech therapists, cochlear implant specialists, social workers, and others. Most importantly, care staff will have good communication links with parents, especially those of their key children.
The Role:
We employ professional care staff to care for children and young people outside the school day. As a residential school, we believe Mary Hare should be a caring community meeting the various needs of the young people in our care. All staff share responsibility for safeguarding, wellbeing, and education of pupils.
Senior Care staff should develop good relationships with pupils, work to create a safe, secure, stimulating environment, and support their learning. They should also prepare young people for their next stage, whether changing residential houses or leaving school.
Senior Care staff must be prepared to undertake shift, sleep-in duties, and weekend work. Additional payment is provided for sleeping-in duties and overtime.
