Job summary

Extendicare is seeking a Resident Care Manager to lead quality resident care across a long-term care setting in Canada. The role reports to the Director of Care and focuses on planning, direction, and evaluation of care, with emphasis on effective human resource management and utilization of the nursing process.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years experience in geriatrics, rehabilitation, or long term care at the supervisory and/or management level.
• Registered nurse with a current unrestricted license or eligible for registration with CRNM, CRPNM, BN preferred.
• Experience in managing in a multi-unionized environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; demonstrated leadership in nursing and health care practices.
• Knowledge of Manitoba health legislation and standards, PPCO, workplace safety and health, and MDS / Care Management systems.

Responsibilities

• Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.
• Assists nursing staff ensuring initial/ongoing assessments and care plans are developed, implemented and reviewed.
• Assists with recruiting/hiring and termination of nursing staff in consultation with the Director of Care.
• Assigns, supervises, and disciplines nursing staff; schedules and replaces staff as needed.
• Promotes an interdisciplinary approach to resident care and acts as a role model in clinical expertise.
