Job description

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust Research Team and work with the Cornwall Intellectual Disability Equitable Research Centre (CIDER).

You will coordinate the National Epilepsy Research Database Register, an NIHR-adopted study that has built important evidence on anti-seizure medication for people with Intellectual Disabilities since 2015. Sponsored by CPFT and involving over 25 NHS Trusts nationwide, this is a complex and high-profile project.

Your role will include supporting study set-up, working with research teams and clinicians, managing recruitment, and coordinating data collection. You will also contribute to ethics amendments, grant bids, and patient and public involvement.

This is a unique chance to develop your research skills, gain experience across the full research pathway, and play a vital role in improving epilepsy care for a vulnerable patient group.

Main duties of the job
  • Undertake study-related procedures as appropriate and the assessment, planning, and on-going care of research participants throughout the duration of the study.
  • Work as part of the Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT) Research Team and the Cornwall Intellectual Disability Equitable Research Centre (CIDER).
  • Work on National Institute for Health Research adopted Epilepsy Research Database Register.
  • Coordinate the management across multi-centre study sites.
  • Develop and coordinate ethics amendment applications, grant bids, and patient and public involvement and engagement processes for this important study, as it builds further evidence around epilepsy treatments for a complex and vulnerable population of patients.

  • Degree level qualification in a relevant subject
  • Post Graduate Diploma level or equivalent experience within research
  • Previous research or project management experience
  • Audit experience / Research methodology
  • Experience of administering research rater assessments
  • Ability to work independently, without close supervision and with multi-professional healthcare and research staff across multiple organisations
