Job Description:
Summary

You will provide technical expertise, support, and guidance in research support. You may supervise technical staff and act as a role model and coach others. You will need an in-depth understanding of research questions, techniques, and protocols to advise, diagnose, resolve problems, and suggest solutions. Flexibility to work outside normal hours may be required, and opportunities to work in different areas of the department or university may be available.

Main Duties
  • Assist in managing experimental and laboratory activities.
  • Advise on techniques and procedures, communicate with colleagues and students.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical problems, suggest improvements.
  • Perform specialist technical procedures, maintain accurate records, ensure compliance with legislation, and contribute to audits and inspections.
Health and Safety duties
  • Support health and safety, including equipment training and maintenance, reporting breaches, and waste management.
  • May be asked to undergo First Aider training.
General Administration and Organisation
  • Maintain records, manage stocks and procurement, ensure facilities are safe and clean, and support sustainability initiatives.
Other Duties
  • Participate in training and mentoring, support diversity, and perform other reasonable duties.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • Relevant experience, qualification or degree in a suitable subject.
  • Knowledge of CDM 2015, legislation, health & safety policies.
  • Qualifications in mathematics and English, technical and scientific expertise, laboratory experience.
