The University of Leicester seeks a passionate Senior Research Technician specializing in protein biology to join cutting-edge phage research. Are you passionate about protein biology and looking to contribute to cutting-edge phage research? We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Research Technician (Protein) to join the team at the Becky Mayer Centre for Phage Research, Department of Genetics, Genomics and Cancer Sciences, University of Leicester.
You will play a key role in a research programme focused on the isolation, purification, and characterisation of novel phage proteins. Your responsibilities include performing specialised experiments, supporting method development, maintaining a safe lab environment, and contributing to knowledge exchange through presentations and conferences.

You will have a qualification at BSc, HNC, NVQ4 level or equivalent experience, with a strong background in protein biology and extensive laboratory experience in protein purification, molecular biology, and microbiological techniques. Experience with category 2 bacterial pathogens and understanding of Health and Safety protocols are essential.
You should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and be confident in guiding and supporting others. Experience with multiple cloning methods (e.g., Golden Gate, Gibson) and familiarity with genomic data or basic bioinformatics tools will be advantageous.
