A leading bioscience research institute in the UK is seeking a Senior Research Scientist to join their team focused on microbiome studies. The role involves experimental design, leading research projects, and managing laboratory operations. The ideal candidate must hold a PhD in a relevant field and have significant laboratory experience. Offering a competitive salary range of £45,450 to £56,750, this full-time position is available until 31 March 2028.
We are seeking a Senior Research Scientist to join a collaborative team studying xenobiotics-gut microbiome interactions as well as developing precision microbiome intervention trials. The ideal candidates will have expertise in laboratory-based microbiome studies, intervention trials, and bioinformatics.
You will work closely with a multidisciplinary group of researchers and have access to state-of-the-art infrastructure to design, develop, and apply innovative approaches for microbiome research.
The main foci of this position are to advance precision prebiotic microbiome intervention trials aimed at promoting healthy aging and to study the interactions of prebiotics, drugs and other xenobiotics on the gut microbiome.
The post-holder will support the Group Leader with day-to-day running of the lab, including line management of staff, overseeing budgets, and leading the scientific direction.
Internal: The post holder will work closely with other group members, the line manager Daniel Figeys and key collaborators. The applicant will also work closely with the Human Studies Team at the Quadram Institute. The applicant will have direct access to established metagenomics, metaproteomics and metabolomics facilities and the equipment at the QIB.

Senior Research Scientist
Applications are invited for a Senior Research Scientist to join the Laboratory of Prof Daniel Figeys in the Microbes and Food Safety programme at Quadram Institute Bioscience (QIB), based in Norwich, UK.

Significant previous experience: in microbiome laboratory experiments is required as well as experience with preparing documents for ethic approval.

Salary on appointment will be within the range £45,450 to £56,750 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full-time post available until 31 March 2028.
