Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join the South Tees Academic Cardiovascular Unit (ACU). We are looking to appoint a Senior Research Manager to lead the development, management, and execution of funded ACU research and activities. The Senior Research Manager will coordinate multi-disciplinary teams to manage ACU projects throughout their life cycles.

The role requires a research professional with experience and excellence in conducting and managing clinical and translational research, including familiarity with the regulatory environment surrounding clinical trials. Relevant experience in cardiovascular and thoracic research will be considered an advantage.

This is a full-time post for 2 years initially, with the possibility of extension following satisfactory performance and funding confirmation.

Main duties of the job

This includes protocol refinement, study setup (including regulatory approvals), site and progress monitoring, ongoing study management, closeout, and reporting with the Chief Investigators (CI). The post holder will ensure studies are conducted in accordance with clinical trial regulations and contribute to publications and grant applications.

This role suits someone with trial management or coordination experience who is proactive, self-motivated, a strong communicator, and able to work independently and within a team.

Knowledge
  • Experience of managing multi-centre randomized controlled trials.
  • Understanding of UK health and social care frameworks and research governance.
  • Professional conduct, confidentiality, and team working experience.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and research governance information.
  • Knowledge of statistics and research methodology.
Qualifications
  • 1st or 2:1 Honours degree in health sciences or related field.
  • GCP Training.
  • Masters degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • PhD or equivalent academic experience.

  • Managing clinical multi-site/international RCTs.
  • Monitoring clinical trials and ensuring good conduct.
  • Research governance and ethics procedures.
