We will consider applications for employment on a part-time or other flexible working basis, even where a position is advertised as full-time, unless there are operational or other objective reasons why it is not possible to do so.
An existing opportunity has arisen to join the Research Finance team as a Senior Research Finance Assistant.
You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of externally funded research and research related projects from acceptance to closure including identifying and maintaining action plans to deal with issues on projects and ensuring the completeness and accuracy of claims and invoices. Post holders will be expected to work independently and without supervision for much of the time.
You will hold a relevant practical accounting qualification such as AAT and be highly proficient in use of Microsoft Excel (Advance level) with the ability to use the following excel functions: - pivots, vlookups, sumifs, ifs, and conditional formatting.
You will have excellent customer service ethos with the ability to build good working relationships with stakeholders (particularly those in academic departments) through close communication and information sharing, and collaborative working.
The University Finance Office supports business planning and innovation to maximise the financial resources available to the University and create the long-term sustainable financial platform required for future growth. Finance staff across the University are networked as a professional community of expertise. You will be supported to continue your professional journey through access to Continuing Professional Development training opportunities, sector networks and regular Finance Office briefings.
The role is campus based however staff can opt to work under the Finance Office’s current hybrid policy where a maximum of 40% of time (2 days per week for full-time staff, typically Tuesday and Friday) can be worked remotely. This is subject to review and operational requirements. Whilst in the induction phase you’ll be required to work 100% in the office. Further details are available on request or at interview stage.

About You
