About Us

The post holder will join Professor Vile's newly established laboratory in the School of Cancer & Pharmaceutical Sciences at King's College London. They will collaborate closely with Dr. Sheeba Irshad's laboratory at KCL and research teams at the Institute of Cancer Research in London. The position is based in Professor Vile's laboratory on the KCL Guy's Campus in London Bridge.

About The Role

The post holder will be responsible for the management of Professor Vile's newly established laboratory including both financial and experimental management. We are seeking a self-starting, motivated individual to establish and develop a growing laboratory focused on cancer immunotherapy research, particularly in breast cancer and glioma. The position will involve assisting in the establishment of laboratory infrastructure, including procurement of reagents and equipment, managing incoming scientists and clinicians, performing experiments using molecular biology, virology, cell culture and immunological assays and techniques and establishing and managing mouse models of both breast cancer, glioma and other tumour types. This position offers an opportunity for open and collaborative engagement with other laboratories on the Guy's campus as well as collaborations both nationally and internationally.

This is a full time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an a fixed term contract until 31-Jul-2028.

Research staff at King's are entitled to at least 10 days per year (pro-rata) for professional development. This entitlement, from the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers , applies to Postdocs, Research Assistants, Research and Teaching Technicians, Teaching Fellows and AEP equivalent up to and including grade 7. About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

1. PhD awarded in cancer immunology, virology, cell biology or molecular biology
2. In depth understanding of cancer immunology and immunotherapy
3. Experience in working in multidisciplinary teams and being highly collaborative
4. Motivation for translational cancer research
5. In depth understanding of cancer immunology and immunotherapy
6. Strong problem-solving abilities
7. Track record of publishing in cancer immunology, immunotherapy, virology and/or animal models.

Desirable criteria

1. Knowledge of breast/glioma/melanoma cancer animal models.
2. Experience in contributing to publications with writing up materials and methods referring to histological aspects.
3. MSc degree or equivalent in a relevant subject
