Job description
Overview

A position exists, for a Senior Research Associate in the Department of Engineering, to work on visual stress and its implication on design.

The post holder will be located in Central Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, UK.

Responsibilities
  • Specify and conduct experiments to understand the impact of colour on perceived comfort and neurological response when performing tasks.
  • Use intuitive colorimetry, brain imaging using fNIRS and facial expression analysis as part of the research methods.
Qualifications
  • Experience in the diagnosis and treatment of visual stress and the ability to operate an intuitive colorimeter.
  • Experience in the specification, operation and analysis of different experimental approaches to understanding visual stress, including the use of EEG and fNIRS to assess neural correlates for visual discomfort.
  • Appointment at Senior Research Associate level is dependent on significant experience as a postdoctoral research associate or equivalent, with proven impact from authored publications.
Salary and terms

Senior Research Associate: £47,389 - £59,966

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 30 June 2026 in the first instance.
