The role

We are looking for a Senior Research Analyst to work closely with a team of analysts based in Oxford, focused on meeting the needs of our clients in the global sugar sector.

The role involves undertaking detailed economic, quantitative, market analysis, and research assignments, including forecasting supply and demand, price outlooks, policy analysis, and benchmarking performance/cost of production. It also includes carrying out bespoke consulting projects such as feasibility studies, market segment analyses, and policy evaluations.

What you'll be doing

1. Carrying out analysis and forecasts supporting the weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual services of the sugar research team.
2. Tracking and forecasting sugar supply, demand, price, and policy developments in key geographies.
3. Managing and organizing the database underpinning the analysis.
4. Leading consulting projects with support from team members.
5. Developing expert knowledge of the sugar industry to provide insights to clients.
6. Engaging with industry stakeholders, including occasional research trips.

What we're looking for

We seek individuals with intelligent, inquisitive, and analytical minds, capable of applying micro-economic and statistical analysis in real-world contexts.

The ideal candidate will have a desire to develop detailed knowledge of the sugar sector, able to articulate economic ideas in clear, simple language, and understand the economic forces, policies, market trends, and structural changes affecting the industry.

Applicants with a background in agricultural economics (Masters or higher) are preferred but not essential for the right candidate.
