Senior Reporter – Hydrogen & Future Fuels

What we’re looking for

We are looking for a driven, passionate and resourceful Senior Reporter to help drive our reporting on hydrogen and derivatives, including ammonia, e-fuels and e-SAF.

This is an excellent opportunity for ananalytical,inquisitive,numerate andliterateindividual to develop their expertise and skills in a nascent but evolving sector.

You will have a passion for understanding howcomplex systemswork andwill relish the prospect of developing your skills in a role that draws heavily on traditional relationship-basedreporting but also data-driven analysis. You will contribute coverage across a range of different formats including daily news, longer feature articles and interviews, while collaborating closely with colleagues across Argus’ many offices around the globe.

There are opportunities to travel and attend industry events, and to develop networks/specific market knowledge, as well as to present at industry conferences, host podcasts and lead webinar sessions.

The role would be ideally suited to a dynamic and curious self-starter with some experience in energy transition topics, and who enjoys cultivating sources as well as reporting and writing news and analysis.

What will you be doing?

  • Proactively generate news leads and pitch stories, contribute copy to the on-line news service and weekly publication, offer contributions to special content (blog posts, white papers, webinars, podcasts, etc.)
  • Build up your industry expertise and writing skills to provide readers with first-class market insights and analysis
  • Establish strong relationships with key members of the industry and business leaders through meetings and frequent communications
  • Attend meetings, conferences and industry events to build contacts, report on news and represent Argus in the industry
  • Help expand in-house databases covering the hydrogen sector and use them to build stories
  • Collaborate with colleagues on the desk and in other teams to enhance and drive coverage
  • Take responsibility for mentoring junior staff
  • Provide some back-up editing support for our weekly PDF report and daily online news output when the editor is absent

Skills and Experience

  • Ability to develop, verify and write industry-relevant news/contentin Englishto deadline
  • Excellent writing, grammar and numeracy skills (these will be tested as part of the interview process) and a drive to produce high-quality written content
  • Ability to use data to generate stories and analysisusing Excelis preferred
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to network and build contacts with industry executives
  • Background in the hydrogen sector or energy transition more broadly preferred but not essential
  • Strong co-ordination and time management skills with the ability to work well within a team, and a keen eye for detail
