Job summary

RWE Supply & Trading GmbH is seeking a market analyst to own renewable fuels market analysis, linking regulation, feedstocks and global trade flows to develop clear market views.

You will build models and analysis to challenge market assumptions and support informed trading decisions, with potential exposure to trading activities as markets evolve.

Qualifications

• Relevant experience in renewable fuels, biofuels, refined products, commodity-market analysis or a closely related area.
• Practical knowledge of markets such as renewable diesel/HVO, biodiesel, ethanol, SAF, feedstocks or adjacent oil products.

Responsibilities

• Own market analysis across renewable diesel/HVO, sustainable aviation fuel, biodiesel and ethanol.
• Build and maintain supply-and-demand balances, price forecasts, cost curves and market scenarios.
• Monitor global mandates, legislation, sustainability requirements and certification schemes.
• Assess announced production projects, including capacity, feedstock requirements, commissioning timelines and commercial viability.
• Analyse feedstock availability, competing demand, global trade flows and potential logistical or infrastructure constraints.
• Identify where market pricing appears inconsistent with underlying fundamentals and communicate clear conclusions to the trading desk.
• Develop reliable datasets and transparent analytical tools, challenging the quality of external information and assumptions.
• Build an external network across producers, suppliers, data providers, regulators and industry bodies.

RWE Supply & Trading GmbH is the commercial hub of the RWE Group, connecting global commodity markets, trading expertise and the energy transition.

Reporting directly to the Oil Trading desk, you will join a commercial team active across established and developing fuels markets. The initial focus will be renewable diesel / HVO and sustainable aviation fuel, alongside relevant biodiesel and ethanol markets.

Renewable fuels are being shaped by new mandates, changing feedstock demand and production infrastructure that is still being built. This role will help the trading desk understand whether planned supply can realistically meet future demand and what this means for market pricing and commercial opportunities.

You will take ownership of renewable-fuels market analysis, connecting regulation, feedstocks, production capacity and global trade flows to develop clear market views.

This is not a role focused on summarising published information. You will build the models and analysis needed to challenge market assumptions, identify constraints and support informed trading decisions. As the markets develop, there may also be opportunities to gain greater exposure to trading activities.

Job requirements and experience

• Relevant experience in renewable fuels, biofuels, refined products, commodity-market analysis or another closely related area.
• Practical knowledge of one or more relevant markets, such as renewable diesel/HVO, biodiesel, ethanol, SAF, feedstocks or adjacent oil products.
• Experience building and maintaining supply-and-demand balances, price forecasts, cost curves or other fundamental market models.
• A strong understanding of how mandates, regulation, sustainability criteria and certification requirements shape physical markets and pricing.
• The ability to assess production capacity, feedstock availability, competing demand and supply-chain constraints when forming a market view.
• Strong analytical judgement and attention to detail, including the ability to question data quality, identify inconsistencies and challenge prevailing assumptions.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience turning complex or incomplete market information into clear, evidence-based conclusions.
• An entrepreneurial and collaborative approach, with the confidence to communicate independent market views to traders and other commercial stakeholders.

Advantageous, but notessential

• Experience within an energy company, trading house, refiner, market-intelligence provider or commodity consultancy, where your analysis has influenced commercial decisions.
• Experience with Python, SQL, Power BI or similar analytical tools, alongside an interest in working closely with traders and potentially developing broader commercial responsibilities.
