Job summary

Choose Back Office

Join this integral part of our business, which ensures the smooth execution and settlement of our energy portfolio including Renewable Energy, Gas, Freight, LNG, Biomass and Chrome ore.We manage trade confirmations and documentation, and handle all aspects of post trade activities such as trade reconciliations, regulatory reporting and compliance, collateral management and meter data management of our entire asset portfolio.

Choose Commercial Asset Optimisation

Work in the department responsible for optimising the commercial performance of RWE’s UK generation and renewable assets. Build and test algorithms and mathematical models for the gas and power market, combining modelling, coding, and analysis to turn ideas into trading strategies that deliver real value to the business.

Choose New Business Partners Team

Be part of RWEST’s global growth activities in new markets with new products implementation for the Commercial Desks, interacting across the whole organisation and supporting the team on new business requests. You will also help with enhancing and monitoring our own processes using AI and other automation tools. You will also spend time supporting the Commercial Asset Optimisation desk with their position optimisation.

Choose Risk Governance

Provide transparency on the state of risk to the RWEST Board and Management via Enterprise Risk Report, Stress Test Report etc. to help the Board to manage their risk appetite. Gate check on RWEST’s limit framework and limit management process whilst being the interface providing guidance, coordination and ad hoc analysis for the desk facing market risk teams and other functions across RWEST.

Choose Risk Surveillance and Analytics

Gain exposure to RWEST's trading activities and learn how trading decisions, strategies and controls come together in practice. Analyse trading activity, investigate potential market conduct risks, support the oversight of algorithmic trading strategies, and communicate key insights to senior stakeholders. Through analysis, project work and business-wide collaboration, you can drive improvements and make a meaningful impact.

Choose Trading Risk

Gain a front-row view of how trading desks make decisions, manage market exposure, and drive performance across a diverse range of commodities. The role offers exposure to Profit & Loss analysis, trading strategies and key risk drivers, while translating complex market movements into clear insights for senior stakeholders and supporting independent advice up to Board level.

We’re looking for students who are in the penultimate year of a highly analytical, numerical or business-focused subject (such as Maths, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Business or Economics) and who are ideally on course to achieve a 2:1 or higher. What you must have is:

• Excellent communication skills with fluent English.
• IT proficiency including the ability to use AI-enabled productivity tools.
• A desire to work collaboratively with a curious approach, challenging yourself to find new solutions.
• Motivated to take on new challenges, whether operating independently or in a team.
• Commercial aptitude and entrepreneurial skills.
• Analytical mind and the ability to learn quickly.
