Job Description:

Title - 1x Senior Clinical Fellow (24m Transplant Fellow)

Employer - North Bristol NHS Trust

Duration - 24 months fixed term

Base Hospital - All posts are regarded as being Trust wide. The base Hospital will be Southmead Hospital. Please note that the base could change as a consequence of clinical requirements.

Main duties of the job

The renal transplant team perform an average of 150 transplants a year, including 20 paediatric recipients. We have an active live donor program and provide dialysis access to a large cohort of patients with end-stage renal disease. Several of our surgeons also provide endocrine and hernia surgery, widening the scope of your clinical experience. You will also be part of the emergency general surgical team on an on-call rota, working in admissions, emergency clinic and emergency theatre. Qualifications and Registration

  • Maintain Full registration with the GMC.
  • Higher academic qualification (e.g., MD or MSc).

Training and Experience

  • Recent experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices (or equivalent).
  • Completion of Foundations years 1 & 2 (or equivalent).
  • Training in laparoscopic surgery.

Further Training, Management, Audit

  • Evidence of recent CME/reasonable training progression at this stage of career.
  • Experience in audit projects and written reports.

Research, Teaching, Publications

  • Interest in research.
  • Proven track record in research.
  • Evidence of relevant publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Demonstration of involvement in clinical directorate management.

Personal Requirements

  • Good written communication skills. Evidence of the ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and staff at all levels.
