The role of the Senior Relationship Director is a full relationship management role to engage with our existing and prospective customers to help them realise their ambitions.

Your key aim as a Senior Relationship Director with HSBC will be to influence customers with a turnover of between £15M and £350M, with a focus towards the top end of this range, where you will also be responsible for customer service excellence to our existing and prospective customers.

Customer portfolios will consist of both domestic and international relationships and will involve managing all aspects of the relationship including operational and credit risk. To be successful in this role you will create and maintain strong and evolving partnerships internally and externally.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Focus on growing the business sustainably, by identifying opportunities to expand a portfolio and broadening client relationships by leveraging HSBC's extensive network.
  • Drive revenue growth through understanding customer needs and by adopting a needs-based approach which engages clients and increases new business.
  • Effectively manage work and support resources to increase quality and time of client visits opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Group colleagues to deliver appropriate needs-based solutions for customers.
  • Build a strong understanding of the client's business and industry to promote insights, enrich client conversations and deliver fair outcomes.
  • Deepen understanding of the client through pro-active credit risk assessments and customer due diligence reviews.
  • Confidently manage financial crime risk throughout the client lifecycle by identifying, assessing, accepting, monitoring, escalating and mitigating risk.

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • Experience working in relevant environment/s, i.e. Corporate Banking with a broad knowledge of products available is essential, with a capability of taking on the most complex cases or adding transformational value to clients and prospects
  • A comprehensive understanding of lending and front-line credit risk is essential.
  • Significant proven experience of leading the delivery of an excellent customer service while proactively looking for innovative ways to improve this service is essential.
  • Excellent written, financial modelling and spoken communication skills with the ability to effectively influence and negotiate with others is essential.
  • Significant proven experience in business development through sales and additional lending products and services to a portfolio of clients is essential.
  • Built noteworthy effective networks across business areas internally & externally, developing relationships based on mutual trust and encouraging others to do the same.
  • A comprehensive understanding of risk management and proven experience of ensuring own/others' compliance with relevant regulatory processes is essential.

This a hybrid role based at our Birmingham office. There is an expectation of travel on a regular basis to visit clients in the Midlands area, covering, but not limited to Herefordshire, Warwickshire, Shropshire and Worcestershire, so it is important that the successful candidate is within easy commuting distance of this region.
