A leading rehabilitation facility in Sheffield is seeking a Senior Rehabilitation Assistant to oversee other staff, ensuring high-quality care for clients with complex needs. As a Senior Rehabilitation Assistant you will provide high quality therapeutic care to STEPS clients in line with their care and rehabilitation plans, whilst supporting the client to be as independent as possible. You will work with and support our inter-disciplinary team of nurses and therapists.

Thisis a managerial position, and the Senior Rehabilitation Assistant (SRA) will beresponsible for overseeing the Rehabilitation Assistants (RAs) working on theirfloors under the guidance of the Senior RA Coordinator and Nurse in charge. TheSRA will be a role model to more junior members of the team and lead byexample, coaching RAs to develop their confidence and skills.
TheSRA will also continue to work operationally within our inter-disciplinary teamproviding high-quality holistic care support to STEPS clients, who have complexcare and rehabilitation needs. They will provide support throughout theirrehabilitation journey in a way that is aligned with STEPS values andbehaviours through working as a key member of the inter-disciplinary team.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conducting supervisions and appraisals with a small team of RAs.
Be a champion for the STEPS values and standards in monitoring andactioning issues of poor conduct or behaviour to ensure standards are upheld,including timekeeping, uniform and misconduct, reporting on these asappropriate to the People & Culture team.
Proactively, when needed, provide instruction, support and guidanceto RAs within their roles, acting as a point of escalation when needed.

To ensure the allocation of RAs to residential clients is completedthe morning after handover with guidance from the Nurse on shift.
To work in collaboration with the nursing team to coordinate eachshift
Ensure that the RA team on the floor you are working on are workingin the location they are supposed to be during their shift and completing thetasks they are supposed to be
To undertake individual rehabilitation plans for our clientsproviding suitable feedback via the Nurses to members of theinterdisciplinary team
To prepare and attend IDT meetings when allocated and shareinformation with the IDT regarding clients
To involve clients and carers in the development and delivery ofgoals within the care plan
To provide support and guidance to other members of theinterdisciplinary team
To escalate issues as required following STEPS guidance andoperating procedures for example, in relation to potential safeguardingissues or regarding the conduct of any colleagues
To be compliant with clinical governance requirements operatingwithin STEPS procedures
To be involved in clinical audits
Carrying out all procedures relating to personal care and nutritionof clients
To keep cupboards stacked and tidy with all items needed for clientcare throughout the day and night
To keep client rooms tidy and organised as specified by the client,ensuring it remains set up in the best way possible to allow for maximumindependence
To escalate any feedback from clients and take appropriate action byinforming the Senior RA Coordinator/Nurse on duty or Client LiaisonCoordinator as appropriate
To undertake duties and responsibilities as assigned in the workplan
When on nights, monitor clients sleep and feedback to the NursingTeam for IDT
Regularly check MS Teams and MS Outlook for emails or messages,acknowledging and responding to messages in a timely manner.
Encourage RAs to remain up to date with their emails and ensurethey are aware of any important updates.
Complete and sign the daily and nightly jobs list.
Communicate with those working on the other floor to ensure there isopen communication, especially if there is no Senior RA on duty on thatfloor.

PEOPLE and ORGANISATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
To be responsible for day-to-day workload allocation, interacting with the STEPS team as appropriate.
To be responsible for the management of the RA team with regard to their day to day work but also addressing issues around conduct, capability and sickness.
Identify training and development needs within your allocated team of RAs through daily work, supervision and appraisal, reporting these to the Learning and Support Manager and the People & Culture team.
