Job summary

AstraZeneca is seeking an Associate Director for SH & Environmental Regulated Operations at the Macclesfield Campus. The role owns regulator-facing licences, environmental permits, and compliance obligations, interfacing with regulators and internal teams to secure ongoing compliance.

The post holder will supervise the DGSA framework, manage compliance registers, and coordinate with Process Technology & Development and Research to address regulatory implications for new substances and chemistry,

Qualifications

• Degree in environmental science, chemistry, engineering, or related field.
• Current DGSA certification.
• Experience in regulated environmental and chemical compliance at industrial sites.
• Strong knowledge of UK EA permitting, REACH, dangerous goods regulations, and Home Office Controlled Drugs licensing.
• Proven track record of regulator engagement.

Responsibilities

• Own regulator-facing licences and permits for the Macclesfield Campus.
• Lead the EA breach-notification workflow and regulator correspondence.
• Maintain the instrumented compliance register and permit-condition tracker.
• Provide regulatory input to PT&D and R&D on new substances and novel chemistry.
• Oversee training on regulated substances (DGSA, CDS) for site personnel.
