Job description

We are currently looking for a dedicated Senior Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our small animal practice at Moorview Vets.

Your New Role

As a Senior Nurse, you will lead and support the nursing team to provide exceptional patient care while overseeing the daily clinical workflows to ensure efficiency and quality. You'll mentor and guide student nurses and animal care assistants, ensuring they receive the support and training they need to succeed. In this role, you will also ensure that clinical protocols are up-to-date and consistently followed, maintaining high standards of patient care. Additionally, you'll assist in the recruitment, training, and performance management of nursing staff. Your responsibilities will include performing routine nursing duties, inpatient care, and consultations as required, while proactively embedding clinical frameworks with innovation and autonomy. You will also work closely with the clinical directors and practice director to ensure the smooth and effective running of the practice.

Working with Modern Facilities

We are a well-established first-opinion, small animal veterinary practice with six primary care branches across the Northeast and a large, dedicated team. This position will primarily be based at our Backworth location, with occasional visits to our other consulting branches.

We are one of the few first-opinion practices in the Northeast to have an on-site CT scanner. Our modern facility is also equipped with an in-house lab, digital x-ray, ECG, ultrasound, laparoscopy, and dental x-ray.

Join a Committed Team

We have a fantastic team of nurses, including 10 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 2 Student Veterinary Nurses, and an Animal Care Assistant. Several of our nurses are trained in Schedule 3 procedures, which allows our vets to focus on more complex cases. Additionally, some of our nurses are working towards further qualifications in areas such as ECC, behavior, and feline nursing. The team has a supportive and collaborative atmosphere, with help always available for more challenging cases. CPD is actively supported and encouraged within the team.

Working Hours

There are 1 in 7 Saturdays, working 8:30am-5:00pm, time is given back for Saturday hours the following week on the Monday. One bank holiday a year (excluding Christmas day and New Year's Day). There are no OOH duties.
