Job summary

The Society of St James is seeking a Senior Recovery Worker to lead and manage the Adult Alcohol and Drug Service within a trauma-informed, recovery-oriented framework. You will supervise Recovery Workers, coach staff and volunteers, and maintain direct client care links in a dynamic team environment.

You will manage complex caseloads, deliver psychosocial interventions, and champion harm reduction and safeguarding across adults and children, while driving partnership working with health

Qualifications

• Significant experience in substance use, mental health, and vulnerable populations.
• Proven background in complex case management and multi-agency working.
• Deep understanding of harm reduction, safeguarding, criminal justice, and welfare support systems.
• Excellent relationship-building across clients and partner agencies with professional boundaries.
• Proficient with IT systems and electronic case management documentation.
• Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise Recovery Workers, peers and volunteers, providing coaching and direction.
• Hold a small, complex caseload delivering psychosocial interventions and care planning.
• Oversee risk management, overdose prevention, and safeguarding across adults and children.
• Collaborate with health services, criminal justice, homelessness settings and multi-agency forums.
• Lead on operational pathways such as Criminal Justice, Homeless Outreach, Harm Reduction, Veterans or Family Support.
