Job description

New! - we are working with a respected Legal 100 firm with an outstanding reputation for their real estate advice who, due to growth, are seeking an ambitious Senior Associate to join their highly regarded Commercial Property Team.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop your legal career working in a progressive and friendly team on a broad range of commercial property work for local, regional and national clients across a range of industries.

The ideal individual will work closely with the Head of the Team and other senior solicitors assisting with a wide range of commercial property matters including freehold and leasehold acquisitions and disposals, transactional landlord and tenant work, commercial development and secured lending as well as assisting our Corporate Team on the property aspects of business sales and acquisitions.

As you progress, you will have the opportunity to handle your own caseload, supported by more senior staff.

The firm operate a hybrid working model, whereby employees can combine working from the office with working from home.

The current policy provides an expectation of a minimum of one day a week in the office, subject to the needs of the firm, clients and colleagues.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage all client work allocated by senior fee earners and Partners
  • At all times, exercise high standards of client care in a professional and pleasant manner
  • Promote the firm’s business service offerings by proactively engaging in any relevant sales and marketing activity including holding key events, writing articles, marketing, seminars, conferences, trade fairs exhibitions and involvement in tenders
  • Undertaking secondments to work at clients’ premises or remotely, if so required
  • Achieve designated levels of billing and time recording for case work and client work to ensure all client activity can be accurately recorded, invoiced and billed to each client
  • To supervise, support and develop junior staff and immediate support staff
  • Demonstrates a good productivity rate and performance against personal financial key performance indicators (KPIs)

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified solicitor or recognised foreign equivalent/ILEX (expected 5-6 PQE+)
  • Up to date knowledge of and experience in commercial real estate law and practice.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Solicitors Regulation Authority Code of Conduct and other regulatory requirements
  • Ability to handle meetings and negotiations with minimal support from a partner/senior fee earners
  • Experience in supervision of trainees

Desirable:

  • Strong academic attainment 2.1 Degree or equivalent
  • Experience of public and local authority sector
  • Experience of housing law, acting for registered providers and telecommunications law would be of particular interest

The ideal candidate will have existing experience of commercial property transactions, either during their training contract and/or post-qualification, with strong technical knowledge of the law together with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The firms exceptional lawyers handle a wide range of property transactions – including the acquisition and disposal of interests in real estate on individual sites and property portfolios, planning, environment and construction work, landlord and tenant matters and taxation and finance issues.

You’ll be joining a team which handles a wide range of property transactions and advice – including office, industrial and retail lettings, large residential developments, investment property, secured lending and agricultural / rural estates work, acting for owners and occupiers, sellers and purchasers and financial institutions.

You need not have experience of all these areas to apply -we’re interested to hear about your skills and interests.
