Job summary

2 Sisters Food Group in Carlisle is seeking a Senior Raw Materials Technologist to lead raw material specifications, risk assessments, and supplier compliance within our Technical team. You will ensure materials meet quality, safety and compliance standards and work closely with NPD, Process, Buying, suppliers and customers.

You will review materials with NPD and Process teams, assess new materials, and communicate requirements to the supply base.

Qualifications

• Strong experience working with raw material specifications and technical documentation.
• Good understanding of food quality, safety and compliance.
• Experience working with suppliers and supply bases.
• Ability to complete and understand risk assessments.
• Experience supporting or responding to technical audits.
• Attention to detail and comfort with data, spreadsheets and reports.
• Experience with M&S requirements is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Complete and maintain raw material specifications, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Collaborate with NPD and Process teams on new products and materials.
• Assess new materials and advise on suitability and requirements.
• Work with suppliers to ensure materials meet agreed specs.
• Support communication between suppliers, Buyers and customers on material matters.
• Complete risk assessments and ensure appropriate controls.
• Assist audits and act as a technical contact for raw material queries.
• Collaborate across Technical, NPD, Process, Buying and Supply Chain to uphold quality and food safety.

About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Raw Materials Technologist to join our Technical team and take ownership of raw material specifications, risk assessments and supplier compliance.

This is a varied role that sits at the heart of our technical operation, working closely with NPD, Process, Buying, suppliers and customers to ensure that new and existing raw materials meet the required quality, safety and compliance standards.

You’ll play an important role in bringing new materials into the business, providing technical advice and making sure what is specified is exactly what arrives onsite.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Completing and maintaining raw material specifications, ensuring they are accurate, up to date and compliant.
• Working closely with the NPD and Process teams on new products and raw materials.
• Assessing new materials and providing technical advice around their suitability and requirements.
• Working directly with the supply base to ensure materials supplied meet the agreed specifications and requirements.
• Supporting communication between suppliers, Buyers and customers on raw material-related matters.
• Completing raw material risk assessments and ensuring appropriate controls are in place.
• Supporting audits and acting as a technical point of contact for raw material queries, helping to demonstrate compliance.
• Working collaboratively across the Technical, NPD, Process, Buying and Supply Chain teams to maintain high standards of quality and food safety.

You'll ideally have:

• Strong experience working with raw material specifications and technical documentation.
• A good understanding of food quality, safety and compliance.
• Experience working with suppliers and supply bases.
• The ability to complete and understand risk assessments.
• Experience supporting or responding to technical audits.
• Strong attention to detail and confidence working with data, spreadsheets and reports.
• Previous experience working with M&S requirements would be highly beneficial.
