Job description

Job Title: Senior RAN Design Consultant

Location: Remote (UK based) - highly flexible; the role is 99% remote, with team members across the UK.

Salary/Rate: £480 per day inside IR35

Start Date: April 2025

Job Type: 6-month initial contract

Company Introduction

My client, a UK-based telecommunications company, is seeking a Nokia RAN Consultant to assist with 4G/5G radio design for their internal teams.

Note: They are not seeking regional planning and optimisation experience.

Job Responsibilities/Objectives
  1. Collaborate with Planning and Strategy teams to translate business requirements into designs and produce High-Level Designs (HLDs).
  2. Identify performance issues with regional teams and implement remedial actions to enhance network performance.
  3. Contribute to the Software Drop Selection process for RAN vendors, aligning with operational and design needs.
  4. Develop HLD, Low-Level Design (LLD), and KPI documents for new RAN software, per project requirements.
  5. Analyze data from third-party benchmarking companies and take appropriate measures.
  6. Identify improvement areas in RAN software solutions.
  7. Possess thorough knowledge of LTE and 5G NR (NSA & SA) technologies.
  8. Preferably have prior experience with Nokia RAN.
  9. Understand 4G/5G network architecture and software features deeply.
  10. Experience managing 4G/5G RAN parameters in live networks.
  11. Handle software/hardware feature testing and trials in testbed and live environments.
Required Skills/Experience
  1. Experience in RAN/Nokia design within telecommunications.
  2. Excellent communication skills, with experience in developing and delivering technical workshops to diverse audiences.
  3. Deep understanding of 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G technologies and RAN network operations.
  4. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, network administration, and vendor management tools like NetACT.
