A healthcare organization in Brighton is seeking a qualified Radiographer to perform imaging procedures such as MRI, CT, X-ray, and Ultrasound. The role involves ensuring patient care and comfort while maintaining high standards of safety and quality in imaging services. Candidates must hold a BSc in Diagnostic Radiography and be HCPC registered. This position requires teamwork and proactive problem-solving skills.
This role is accountable for performing imaging procedures which may include MRI, CT, Xray,Dexa or Ultrasound, deferring to Lead Radiographer/Hub Manager when required. Inaddition, this role guides Radiographers and Radiographic Assistants in their everyday activity.This role operates with a high degree of professionalism at all times to ensure provision of ahigh quality, responsive and patient focused service.
Role Responsibilities: Clinical
Undertaking a wide variety of imaging examinations on different makes and models ofequipment acting as a Practitioner as defined within IR(ME)R 2017, requiring anassessment of each referral and decision on whether to proceed with the examination asrequested, modify or reject it.
To determine and deliver the most appropriate imaging procedures assisting with thediagnosis and subsequent treatment of a wide range of patients and conditions. This maylead to discussion and refusal of requests from doctors and emergency nurse practitionersusing the IR(ME)R regulations.
Alongside other Radiographers and Radiographic Assistants, preparing patients forimaging procedures, explains the procedure and ensures that the patient is comfortableand properly positioned. Ensuring all referrals are justified and provide advice on protocols if required.
Ensuring patient identification/safety checks are completed prior to imaging examination.
Ensuring consistently high-quality images are produced. Administering contrast media in line with PGD guidance, SOPs & protocols. Assessing all images for quality and clinical significance and escalate urgent findings.
Ensuring all examinations are completed, post-processed and allocated for reporting at theend of each day. Responsible for own clinical areas with regards to linen change and cleanliness. Supervising junior Radiographers and Radiographic Assistants when required.

Provides support and reassurance to patients.Maintains own personal Continual Professional Development and a professionalportfolio in line with HCPC & CoR recommendations and requirements.
Updates clinical practice, participate in clinical trials as required and keep up to datein latest techniques.
Carries out responsibilities in relation to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults,to have knowledge of supporting policies and safety and to undertake theappropriate level of training for your role.
To become part of the Radiation Protection Supervisors team within the department,Providing reports for the annual radiation meeting and reporting incidents andconcerns with the support of the RPA.Health & Safety Responsibilities
Has a full understanding of safety issues and the hazards and safety implications ofworking on 1.5T and 3T scanners.
Ensures that all safety guidelines are followed in clinical practice. Carries out regular Quality Assurance Tests on equipment.
Be responsible for the safety of patients and other staff. Reports any malfunctions of equipment to a senior person and records relevantinformation on the RADAR system.
To comply with the IR (ME)R 2017 regulations and lonising Radiations Regulations2017. These are aimed at reducing the radiation dose to Patients, Staff and Public.
Ensures all work environments are safe and within guidelines. Maintains own compliance and ensure department staff awareness and compliancewith all legislative and company policies and procedures to include, but not limited to,CQC, SHE, DSE, Fire, COSHH, Life Support, Safeguarding, Information Security,Infection Control and Manual Handling.
Maintains high-standards of infection control. Contributes to risk assessments for new and current imaging locations and modalities.
