Overview

Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of a high quality healthcare service ensuring that all patients receive a high standard of service delivery.
  • Supervision of junior staff and students.
  • Participate in out of hours work and on-call/stand-by rotas as required.
  • Rotate throughout the radiology department (X-ray, A&E x-ray, fluoroscopy, interventional radiology, CT, MRI).
  • Actively participate in a periodic professional development review, in accordance with Trust guidelines.
  • Work cohesively with all members of the Radiology department to ensure the best services are provided to patients at all times.
  • Work effectively within a multi-racial and cultural environment.
  • To undertake all radiographic duties efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
  • To ensure that all patients receive the best possible standard of care.
  • Commitment to ensuring own development by exposure to all necessary modalities.
  • To be conversant with procedures in general and screening rooms, ED, mobile and theatre radiography; proficiency in more specialised techniques such as CT, IR and MRI.
  • Ensure that Radiation Protection guidelines, IR(ME)R, IRR, and local rules are strictly adhered to.
  • Assist with practical training of junior staff and student radiographers, acting as a role model.
  • Communicate with other staff members to ensure the smooth running of the directorate.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability with rostering requirements to ensure a robust and safe imaging service across the Trust.
  • To offer an initial assessment and interpretation of images produced by themselves or more junior staff in the course of their role.
  • Participate in departmental quality assurance programmes as required.
