Job summary

Medical Imaging Partnership is seeking a radiography professional to perform a range of imaging examinations including MRI, CT, X-ray, Dexa and Ultrasound with IR(ME)R compliance. Qualifications

• IR(ME)R 2017 knowledge and ability to assess referrals.
• Experience in MRI, CT, X-ray, Dexa and Ultrasound imaging.
• Ability to supervise Radiographers and Radiographic Assistants.
• Administer contrast media per PGD guidance and SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking a wide variety of imaging examinations on different makes and models of equipment as a Practitioner under IR(ME)R 2017.
• Assess referrals and decide on proceeding with the examination, modification or rejection as required.
• Deliver the most appropriate imaging procedures to aid diagnosis and treatment.
• Prepare patients, explain procedures, ensure comfort and proper positioning.
• Ensure referrals are justified and provide protocol advice when required.
• Perform patient identification and safety checks before imaging.
• Ensure high-quality images are produced and post-processed and allocated for reporting.
• Supervise junior Radiographers and Radiographic Assistants when required.
• Adapt protocols as needed in collaboration with local radiologists and clinicians.

In addition, this role guides Radiographers and Radiographic Assistants in their everyday activity. This role operates with a high degree of professionalism at all times to ensure provision of a high quality, responsive and patient focused service."

Clinical

"Undertaking a wide variety of imaging examinations on different makes and models of equipment acting as a Practitioner as defined within IR(ME)R 2017, requiring an assessment of each referral and decision on whether to proceed with the examination as requested, modify or reject it. To determine and deliver the most appropriate imaging procedures assisting with the diagnosis and subsequent treatment of a wide range of patients and conditions. This may lead to discussion and refusal of requests from doctors and emergency nurse practitioners using the IR(ME)R regulations. Alongside other Radiographers and Radiographic Assistants, preparing patients for imaging procedures, explains the procedure and ensures that the patient is comfortable and properly positioned. Ensuring all referrals are justified and provide advice on protocols if required. Ensuring patient identification/safety checks are completed prior to imaging examination. Ensuring consistently high-quality images are produced. Administering contrast media in line with PGD guidance, SOPs & protocols. Assessing all images for quality and clinical significance and escalating urgent findings. Ensuring all examinations are completed, post-processed and allocated for reporting at the end of each day. Responsible for own clinical areas with regards to linen change and cleanliness. Supervising junior Radiographers and Radiographic Assistants when required, ensuring they are working in line with IRR2017. Flexible in working practices to ensure that the Imaging services are staffed at all locations. Adapting protocols and procedures for best practice in conjunction with local radiologist and clinician requests. Providing clinical input as required to promote the service to local clinicians"
