Job summary

Oxford Community Diagnostic Centre is seeking an experienced Senior Radiographer to join our patient-centred imaging team at the Oxford Community Diagnostic Centre.

You will lead junior radiographers, deliver high-quality radiographs, ensure safety, maintain documentation, and contribute to audits and improvement initiatives. The role combines hands-on diagnostics with mentorship and governance responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • BSc in Diagnostic Radiography (or international equivalent).
  • HCPC registration and professional indemnity insurance.
  • Minimum 18 months post-qualification clinical experience.
  • Up-to-date CPD portfolio.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Strong attention to detail and patient safety.
  • Able to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and justify radiographic examinations per protocols and standards.
  • Deliver high-quality diagnostic imaging to support diagnosis and management.
  • Manage your own patient workload with accurate IT records.
  • Operate X-ray equipment safely and effectively per procedures.
  • Contribute to QA, governance, audits, and improvements.
  • Mentor junior team members and share best practice.
  • Take delegated Plain Film Lead tasks: QC, audits, vetting, governance.
  • Maintain training compliance and policies.

About The Role

We're looking for an experienced and patient-focused Senior Radiographer to join our growing team at the Oxford Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC).

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated radiographer who is passionate about delivering outstanding patient care and high-quality diagnostic imaging services. You will play a key role in supporting patients throughout their diagnostic journey while helping to maintain an efficient, safe, and welcoming clinical environment.

As a senior member of the team, you'll provide guidance and support to junior colleagues, demonstrate leadership across the CDC, and work closely with clinical leads to drive continuous improvement and service excellence.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Perform and justify radiographic examinations in accordance with departmental protocols and professional standards.
  • Deliver high-quality diagnostic imaging services to support patient diagnosis and management.
  • Manage your own patient workload efficiently while maintaining accurate records on relevant IT systems.
  • Operate X-ray equipment safely and effectively, ensuring compliance with all clinical procedures.
  • Contribute to quality assurance, governance, audit, and departmental improvement initiatives.
  • Support and mentor junior members of the team, sharing knowledge and best practice.
  • Take responsibility for delegated tasks from the Plain Film Lead, including:
    • Quality Control (QC)
    • Audits
    • Vetting
    • Governance activities
  • Maintain compliance with all mandatory training requirements and organisational policies.
  • Keep up to date with current legislation and regulations, including IRR and IR(ME)R.
  • Participate in CPD, research, and audit projects where appropriate.
What We're Looking For
Essential
  • BSc in Diagnostic Radiography (or international equivalent)
  • HCPC Registration
  • Professional indemnity insurance (Society of Radiographers membership or independently obtained)
  • Minimum 18 months post-qualification clinical experience
  • Up-to-date CPD portfolio
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
Desirable
  • Previous experience supporting or mentoring junior radiographers
  • Involvement in clinical audits, quality improvement, or research projects
  • Experience working within fast-paced diagnostic or imaging environments
