The Christie Hospital is seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as a senior MRI Radiographer. This will be a fixed term part time position working 3 days per week to cover maternity leave.

As a senior MRI Radiographer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of our MR service. You will work alongside the MRI Lead and deputies to support a team of talented radiographers, ensuring the provision of high-quality care across 4 scanners. Your expertise will contribute directly to the development of tailored treatment plans for patients, helping to optimise their outcomes and overall experience.

You will be supported to access professional development and post graduate educational opportunities offering routes into advanced clinical practice or senior management.

MAIN DUTIES

  • Work alongside the MR leadership team in the day-to-day running of the department, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation and compassion.
  • Provide guidance to a team of radiographers and radiographic aides, promoting their professional growth and development.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support accurate and timely diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Drive the implementation of new technologies and techniques, staying at the forefront of advancements in MR radiography.
  • Participate in departmental audits, research projects and quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery.

Requirements

  • Degree in Diagnostic Radiography
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • PgCert in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (desirable)
  • Strong background in MR imaging
  • Proven leadership abilities with the capacity to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
  • Excellent communication skills, fostering effective collaboration across departments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, capable of making critical decisions in a fast paced environment.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying up to date with industry advancements.

The Christie is one of Europe’s leading cancer centres, treating over 60,000 patients a year. We are based in Manchester and serve a population of 3.2 million across Greater Manchester & Cheshire, but as a national specialist around 15% patients are referred to us from other parts of the country.

We provide radiotherapy through one of the largest radiotherapy departments in the world; chemotherapy on site and through 14 other hospitals; highly specialist surgery for complex and rare cancer; and a wide range of support and diagnostic services. We are also an international leader in research, with world first breakthroughs for over 100 years.

We run one of the largest early clinical trial units in Europe with over 300 trials every year. Cancer research in Manchester, most of which is undertaken on the Christie site, has been officially ranked the best in the UK.
