Job Title: Senior R&D Project Manager

Location: London, hybrid with occasional international work trips

Salary: £60-70k + benefits

I'm currently hiring for a Senior R&D Project Manager for my client in the automotive industry. As the R&D Project Manager, you will lead a small team in a client-facing role, responsible for defining, scheduling, and managing a portfolio of key R&D projects. You will ensure the delivery of the R&D functions' objectives while aligning with the overall business priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead and manage end-to-end technical R&D projects from concept through to delivery in the automotive sector.
2. Develop and implement project plans, manage resources, and identify risks for R&D projects.
3. Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure timely execution and project success.
4. Report on project status, key risks, and issues to senior management and project stakeholders.
5. Manage R&D project budgets, providing monthly forecasts and actuals.
6. Communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

Skills and Experience:

1. Proven experience in the automotive industry, particularly with technical R&D projects.
2. Strong background in delivering R&D projects using both Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
3. Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and process improvement (e.g., Six Sigma).
4. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with all levels of the business.
5. Expertise in project planning, resource estimation, and stakeholder management.
6. Proactive in identifying and resolving potential issues to ensure smooth project execution.
7. Experienced with MS Office and project management tools such as JIRA and MS Project.

Desired:

1. Experience in the powertrain/propulsion domain and hands-on engineering experience.
