Job summary

Cytiva, a Danaher company, seeks a Senior Engineer to drive hardware and disposable device development from concept through validation. You will work on-site in Portsmouth, lead cross-functional teams, and shape product designs with a strong CAD focus.

You will collaborate with Product and R&D teams, manage project plans, and travel up to 20% as needed to support global programs. A degree in Mechanical Engineering and proven project leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• The candidate holds a BSc or BEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (HND/HNC with experience).
• Experience in an R&D environment and leading projects or design roles.
• Proficient in 3D CAD design and cross-functional collaboration.
• Demonstrated ability to manage daily workload with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% and possess a valid driver’s license.

Senior Engineer

The Senior Engineer is responsible for new product development or improvement projects and designs for hardware and / or disposable devices for the biotech industry and market. You will work from early phase (definition of specs) of the initiative through design, testing and validation with the Product Manager and the R&D Engineers and finally transfer into manufacturing in alignment with Manufacturing Engineers and Supply Chain.

This position reports to the and is part of located in and will be an on‑site role.

What You Will Do

• Develop and manage project plans, including defining roles and responsibilities, and overseeing resource allocation and risk management
• Provide technical leadership, confidently guiding teams through complex projects and engineering challenges
• Apply a strong working knowledge of 3D CAD design to support and drive innovative product development activities
• Ensure clear, consistent communication, including reporting project progress and key updates to leadership teams
• Drive effective problem‑solving while fostering strong team collaboration and cross‑functional communication

Who You Are

• BSc or BEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, or a HND/HNC/apprenticeship combined with significant direct work experience
• Considerable work experience in an R&D environment
• Experienced in leading through project management and / or design roles
• Good understanding of 3D CAD design
• Able to manage own daily workload and accomplishing tasks with minimal supervision

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements

• Ability to travel – up to 20% travel, overnight, across the world
• Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• An R&D environment
• Engineering or technical leadership
