Job summary

IonQ, Inc. in Oxford, England, seeks a Senior Software Engineer for the Transport Software team to develop ion trap control software, guiding trajectories of ions in parallel using electromagnetic fields.

Hybrid on-site role in the Oxford office, collaborating with physicists to scale the computational capacity of trapped-ion quantum computers. You will work on high-performance data pipelines and runtime-enabled calibration, driving the software framework across hundreds to thousands of DAC

Qualifications

• Experience with systems programming languages and building production-ready software.
• Experience delivering high-performance, reliable software in a production context.
• Ability to collaborate across disciplines with physicists and engineers.
• Wamiliarity with rapid evolution of requirements and learning.

Responsibilities

• Build the framework translating ion transport specs into voltage waveform data for runtime execution.
• Support transport waveform team in developing solvers and physics simulations.
• Collaborate with experimental and theoretical scientists to understand requirements for experiment and simulation.
• Contribute to design of transport operations for quantum circuits and their calibration.
• Interface with runtime, FPGA, and electronics teams to shape system architecture.
